We are so blessed here on the sunny Gold Coast to have the best weather year-round for enjoying the outdoors with the family. Here’s the Wild River Photography round-up of the Top 5 Family Friendly parks you can venture to on the coast! If you’re here looking for a photography location for your family photoshoot or maternity session, make sure you also check out our article on the best Gold Coast Photography Session Locations.

Kurrawa Playground, Broadbeach

This well-shaded spot is protected from the sunshine even on the brightest days, which is great for keeping those little faces out of the sun! It is accessible for all ages and abilities, with features like a flying fox, gentle hill and slippery slide for the adventurers, an underwater-themed section for the imaginative little ones and a sand exploration station for endless playing. If you want to make a day of it with the family, there are also great BBQ facilities.

Palm Beach Parklands, Palm Beach / Currumbin Creek

A weekend family favourite, this kid-friendly park is perfect for climbing and exploring. Sitting on the beautiful Currumbin Creek, it has so many features and is always bursting with happy little faces playing. The park is often called ‘Pirate Park’ thanks to the standout feature – a huge pirate ship to explore! There are also plenty of pathways nearby for walking and cycling with the family.

Broadwater Parklands, Southport

This is one of the coast’s favourite family parks for good reason – there is just so much to do for kiddies! Come on a warm day and the kids will love to take a dip in the shallow rockpool park featuring fun water jets and wading pools. The park itself is perched on the Gold Coast Broadwater and features activities that the little ones will love like flying foxes, monorail bikes, a jumping pillow and giant lizard.

Ed Hardy Park, North Burleigh

This may be a smaller playground than some of the others on the list but its beautiful location and great barbecue facilities mean it is definitely a Gold Coast favourite. Perched below the iconic North Burleigh headland, you can either set up in the park for a family picnic or take a stroll along the flat esplanade path in the morning before ending up here. We would also recommend stopping at the North Burleigh takeaway coffee shop if you’ve been woken by little ones through the night!

Cascade Gardens, Broadbeach

This beautiful leafy area is loved by all ages on the Gold Coast, but it is perfect for a family day out! Take along a picnic rug and settle under the shade while you enjoy a day with your nearest and dearest. There is a large playground for the little ones to burn off some energy (well, they may be there for a while – there’s a lot to do)! After everyone has run around, enjoy a picnic cooked at the barbecue area by the river. It is set back from the Gold Coast Highway so is peaceful while being easily accessible and central.

Hopefully we have shown you that no matter where you are on the Gold Coast, there is likely to be a fantastic park for the family to enjoy! If you are looking for a family photography session, you will know that what really makes them shine is genuine joy and connection. If you would like to schedule your shoot nearby to one of these fantastic parks for the kids to enjoy afterwards, we think that’s a fantastic idea! We love when our families get to play, chase after your adorable kids and enjoy the time we spend capturing those memories.
